Fluorescence microscopy has long been established as an extremely important diagnostic tool in medical and biological research. Collaborating with Leica Microsystems, a world leader in innovative microscopy for imaging and analysis of micro- and nanostructures, Rockland Immunochemicals has developed novel fluorescent-labeled conjugates for use in Stimulated Emission Depletion, or STED microscopy.
Rockland manufactures hundreds of fluorochrome conjugates including Atto-tec and DyLight™ dyes and FITC, which complement the cutting-edge STED technology, in addition to many of the classic fluorochromes such as Texas Red and Phycoerythrin. All of the conjugates are ideal for various immunofluorescence based assays including fluorescent western blotting and FLISA, as well as immunofluorescence microscopy.
A method of confocal microscopy, STED allows for assessments of protein interactions not previously visible by conventional microscopic analysis. This super-resolution, occurs below the diffraction limit which restricts most confocal based technologies and allows for live cell imaging and subcellular architecture, as well as colocalization studies.
