 Custom Polyclonal Antibody Production

Rockland's custom polyclonal antibody service department has extensive experience in generating high-titer, high-affinity antisera to a wide variety of antigens. Our staff is ready to assist you in experimental design, laboratory methods, production, purification and conjugation. If you have any questions about experimental designs please contact our Custom Services Group via e-mail or by calling them at 1-800-656-ROCK. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) How much antigen is required? Using proprietary immunization methodologies as little as 200 micrograms of antigen per injection can be used for a standard immunization protocol. However, we have been successful using approximately 50 micrograms per injection for valuable antigens.  If antigen is abundant immunize with 0.1 to 0.5 mg per injection.

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) What is Rockland's recommended immunization regime? Customized protocols can always be developed, however, we have documented a greater than 95% success rate using the protocol listed below:

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) How many animals should I put on a study? We recommend two or more animals to allow for immune response variability.

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) What type(s) of antigens can be injected?  We can immunize animals with native proteins, GST-fusion proteins, peptides, carbohydrates or any other compound of viral, fungal or microbial origin. However, no biohazardous material can be accepted. We recommend the use of Freund's Adjuvant, however, we can accommodate any requirements that you may have for specialized adjuvants.

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) Can you conjugate my peptide to a carrier? Yes. Please consult with our technical staff to recommend peptide synthesis strategies to facilitate carrier coupling and enhance peptide immunogenecity.

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) How should I send the antigen? Antigen can be supplied in a soluble form, as a lyophilizate, a gel slice or on a nitrocellulose membrane. An additional charge of $35 will be applied for gel slice extraction. Please call prior to shipping so that we can prepare to start your project.

WB00882_.GIF (263 bytes) Is Rockland a USDA approved and NIH Licensed facility? Yes. Our staff can assist you in completing necessary forms for NIH. Our in-house IACUC completes and maintains animal protocols eliminating your paperwork load.

This service is designed for the rapid screening of peptides usually delivered in about one (1) month! this is the fastest way to get custom polyclonal antibody for your immunoassay. This service includes analysis of the peptide's primary structure, peptide synthesis (up to 15 amino acids), conjugated to KLH carrier protein, pre-bleeding of two (2) rabbits, immunization, booster injections, terminal bleeding of rabbits and titer analysis of the antiserum collected by indirect ELISA. We will provide you with approximately 100ml of antiserum, the pre-immune serum and any remaining unconjugated peptide. Call for more details.
Pre-screening of host animal CUST37 Get a Quote
Host animals may show elevated titers in pre-immune sera to certain antigens of bacterial or fungal origin. If you are studying bacterial or fungal proteins you may request pre-screening of rabbits at no additional charge Pre-bleed and daily maintenance fees apply to all host animals reserved for your selection. After the host animals are selected the charge for animals would apply only to those host animals that meet your requirements

Inquire for pricing and availability of other host animals
including,. but not limited to, bovine. rat, guinea pig, hamster,
turkey, donkey or swine. All of our customers are ensured
ownership and confidentiality of each project.
