Sterile Animal Blood for Red Blood Cells (RBCs)

Whole blood is aseptically collected and prepared to order from our colony of onsite animals. Rockland red blood cell products are useful for the complement titrations, adsorption procedures, agglutinins testing and HA assays, as well as preparation of stroma as particulate reagents.

Red Blood Cells Washed Pooled Cells

Washed and pooled cells are most useful for research in IgA-deficiencies and are used to decrease febrile, urticarial and anaphylactic reactions. Rockland provides red blood cells that have been washed in sterile saline to remove white blood cells, lytic mediators, and non-self antigens.

Antisera to Red Blood Cells

Antiserum is blood serum containing polyclonal antibodies and is used to study passive immunity to many diseases. Antibodies in the antiserum bind the infectious agent or antigen and the immune system then recognizes foreign agents bound to antibodies, triggering a more robust immune response.

Sterile Serums and Plasma

Sterile serum can be used in tissue engineering, transplantation and cell therapy applications. Rockland sterile serum products are high quality with incredible sensitivity and repeatability.

Non-Sterile Serums and Plasma

Non-sterile serum and plasma is derived from whole blood donations and allowed to clot spontaneously prior to centrifugation. After separating the serum from the cellular components, it is allowed to undergo secondary clotting to ensure removal of all remaining components necessary for the clotting cascade. It is centrifuged again, allowing the remaining serum to be drawn off and packaged according to your requirements.

Complement Fixation Reagents

Complement reagents are prepared from healthy, non-medicated animals using very large pools to reduce lot-to-lot variability. The fresh frozen complement is rapidly processed and maintained at –80°C (–112°F) to ensure maximum activity. The lyophilized complement is supplied with a diluent of veronal buffered saline containing optimal concentrations of magnesium and calcium.

Buffy Coat Preparations

The buffy coat is the fraction of an anticoagulated blood sample that contains most of the white blood cells and platelets following density gradient centrifugation of the blood. The buffy coat is often used to extract DNA from the blood of mammals and can be used in a laboratory test to detect infection with malaria or other blood parasites.

Lyophilized Control Serums

Rockland control serums can be freeze-dried, a process also known as lyophilization or cryodesiccation. This allows the perishable materials to be effectively dehydrated and preserved for transport.

Adjuvants

Immunologic adjuvants are added to vaccines to stimulate the immune system's response to the target antigen. Additionally, adjuvants can act as irritants which cause the body to recruit and amplify its immune response, providing researchers insight into various immunological responses.

Acetone Powders

Acetone powder may be used in studies on tissue-specific genes leading to the expression of proteins important for the analysis of immunoreactivity, disease pathogenesis and drug targeting.
