Valuable clones can be maintained in liquid nitrogen in our monitored-facility on a per clone per year basis. Rockland offers storage to ensure valuable cells are safe in for long term reuse or as a backup stock to overcome common problems observed in tissue culture. Storage at Rockland is secure, and each stock is stored in multiple locations to safeguard against cryo-vessel failure. Rockland performes routine monitoring of all calibration and has disaster recovery plans in place to ensure the security of all cell lines.
Rockland selects healthy cultures with cell viability of >90% and cell density below a cell-line specific specified maximum cell density. Culture media is replaced 1 day prior to freezing. Serum and cryoprotectant is typically used unless otherwise specified by client. 6 vials are subjected to slow, controlled-rate freeze and then located into multiple secure inventory locations. Following the controlled rate freeze, the cell lines can be cryopreserved for indefinite periods as long as a cryopreservative temperature is maintained.
