NFKB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) is a complex of protein subunits that ultimately control transcription of cellular reponse to stressful stimuli, such as: cytokine exposure, free radicals, UV and irradiation, bacterial and viral secretions, etc. NF-kB also assists in regulating the immune response to infection. When mis-regulated, NF-kB has been implicated in cancer, inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and insufficient clearing of viral infections.
