Bovine Collagen Type II Description

Background
Bovine Collagen Type II (Nasal Cartilage) is one of a family of proteins found particularly in the flesh and connective tissues of mammals (approximately one-third of the body's total protein). Over two dozen types of collagen have been described; Type II is found predominantly in hyaline cartilage (50% of the protein in hyaline is collagen type II) and is also found in the vitreous humor of the eye.
Synonyms
Type II collagen, collagen 2, bovine collagen
Storage Condition
Store vial at 4° C prior to opening. Bovine Collagen Type II (Nasal Cartilage) is stable at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Application Note
Bovine Collagen Type II can be utilized as a control or standard reagent in Western Blotting and ELISA experiments.
Purity/Specifity
Bovine Collagen Type II (Nasal Cartilage) has been prepared from bovine nasal cartilage and is chromatographically and immunologically pure. Bovine Collagen Type II (Nasal Cartilage) is free from other collagens, serum proteins and non-collagen extracellular matrix proteins.  Bovine Collagen Type II (Nasal Cartilage) reacts with anti-Collagen Type II.  Reaction with Rockland’s anti-Collagen I, III, IV, V or VI is negligible (typically less than 1% cross reactivity was detected by ELISA).
